About Us
A Call to Save the Girl Child
House of Fatima for Abused Girls Foundation (CAC/IT/NO 146255) is a non-governmental organization created to protect the boy and the girl child from all forms of abuse in a society where people are shy to speak out against sexual abuse, violence, molestation, and all forms of abuse against the girl child in today’s society. It is a safe house for those that have been abused and are seeking refuge away from their oppressors.
Evidence suggests that gender and age norms play a vital role in the life of a child especially here in Africa. The boy and girl Child abuse are reportedly more common amongst both young males and females in Nigeria. This may be attributed to the economic marginalization of females that has general patterns of oppression which make it hard to resist abuse.
The abuse of girls and young females may also be linked to the common practice of using girl child domestic work as part of their ‘training’ to become good wives and mothers. And most times leaving them in situations where untamed men take advantage of them.
This abuse often time starts very early. It could be a friend, a guardian, or even a parent in most cases abusing the girl child and they are silenced never to speak about it.
We want to change this narrative. The girl child should be loved, protected, nurtured, and guided to become whatever they desire like the male child. This abused is going on in our society and the House of Fatima wants to put a stop to it.

My Story
It’s Time to Break The Silence
Against Abuse of the Girl Child
The boy and girl Child has been so much abused in our society today and the funny aspect about what is happening is that many have chosen to look the other way. The society is shying away from the truth that has confronted many.
I happen to be a victim and was raped by a man whom I called my father from the age of 5 until I was 14years old. You couldn’t have imagined what I went through knowing that I was being destroyed by the man I have come to know as my father.

I believe the best way to break my silence is to make the world hear about my story. This way parents can learn from what happened to me and then know what to do to protect their boy and girl child.
My innocence from taken from a very little child and I remembered the thoughts of committing suicide and the so many nights that I cried. Today, I have decided to act in my own capacity to save the girl child that is going through this traumatic experience in our society. This gave birth to the House of Fatima for Abused Girls.
These practices are going on most especially in developing and under-developed societies and no one is talking about it. For us at House of Fatima, it is time to break the silence and rescue the boy and girl child and position them in a place where they can fulfill the call upon their lives.

Only courageous people can look at the monster of molestation and abuse and then decide to speak up. In a society where the girl child is being silenced, the only solution to curbing this menace that has become a daily occurrence is to speak up.
When I decided that I was going to break the silence, people confronted me asking if I was ready with the stigma that comes with it.
Some told me that I was going to be shut down by people with all sort of negative comments saying that I should reconsider. Many of them added to the insecurity I already feel because of my situation. I began to think about it but suddenly became courageous because I thought to myself If I don’t do anything; then this issue will persist. In my own little way, I believe my story will help encourage someone out there to tell their story and get rescued.
